West Ham signed former Real Madrid and Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa on a free transfer on Wednesday.
Spain international Arbeloa agreed a one-year contract with the Premier League club after being released by European champions Real at the end of last season.
The 33-year-old full-back won the Champions League twice with Real and also helped them lift the Spanish title in his seven years at the Bernabeu.
He also won the World Cup with Spain in 2010 and the European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
"For me, this is a great chance to be back in England and in the Premier League, which is a fantastic league and I want to put myself here again," Arbeloa told West Ham TV.
"This is a big club and a great club with fantastic players and a great coach."
